In an effort to assist homeowners in Manchester to navigate the ADU development process, MHTforADUs hosted a series of in-person seminars in Manchester throughout the month of April. Seminars proved to be an effective way to assist homeowners in learning more about building an In-Law Apartment on their property. The seminar provided nine steps to understanding how to develop your own In-Law Apartment and provided access to tools and resources needed to make good decisions for each stage of the development process.
The 9 steps to developing an In-Law Apartment:
Step 1: What is an "In-Law" Apartment
Step 2: How are "In-Law" Apartments Regulated, Obtaining Approvals
Step 3: Measuring the Financial Benefits of Development
Step 4: Developing Floor Plans (Services of an Architect)
Step 5: Finance Options: Mortgage Refinance
Step 6 Finance Options: Home Equity Line of Credit
Step 7: Hiring a Contractor, Contract Types
Step 8: The Construction Process, From Permits to Punch Lists
Step 9: Reference Guides and Supporting Materials
